Prototype Instructions
This prototype was developed specifically to verify printing functionality.
Please note that certain mechanical details, such as button actuation force and final hinge structures, have not yet been implemented.
We ask for your understanding that the tactile experience is not final.
Kindly handle the cover with care, as you may encounter some resistance when opening or closing it.
Prototype Operation Guide
1. Power On
Press and hold the power button to turn on the device.
An ascending buzzer tone will sound, the LED will illuminate, and the device will perform an internal paper alignment.
2. Manual Paper Feed
Press the feed button briefly to advance the paper.
As this prototype does not yet include automatic paper detection and control, please continue pressing the button until the paper emerges from the exit.
If the paper fails to appear after more than six attempts, a malfunction may have occurred; in this case, please contact us at soom@mangoslab.com.
3. Print Readiness & Cutting
Once the paper is visible at the exit, the device is ready to print.
You may proceed with printing immediately, use the power button to back-feed, or use the cutter button to trim the paper beforehand. When using the cutter button, the margins are pre-adjusted to ensure symmetrical spacing on both sides of the printed Braille.
4. Test Printing & App Reference
When the device is ready, a long press on the feed button will print a test pattern.
Please note that the mobile app is currently under development and has not been released. For a demonstration of the app's functionality, please refer to the provided video.

Charging ⠥(u)
The device features a built-in 2,000mAh Lithium-ion battery and charges via USB Type-C (5V 1.5A).
The charging port is designed for easy, eyes-free access.
By tracing the ridge along the side of the device with your right hand, your finger will naturally be guided to the USB-C port.
For quick identification, the Braille character ⠥ (u) is embossed next to the port to indicate its function.
LED Indicators
The device features two LED indicators to provide status updates.
The RGB LED displays the power and error status, while the White LED indicates the Bluetooth connection status.
Power Button ⠏(p) ⏻
The power button is a tactile button featuring a standard power symbol, with the Braille character ⠏ (p) located adjacent to it for easy identification.
A long press toggles the power on or off, while a short press back-feeds the paper.
Feed Button ⠋(f) ∨
The feed button is a chevron-shaped tactile button pointing toward the paper exit, with the Braille character ⠋ (f) located adjacent to it for easy identification.
A short press feeds the paper, while a long press prints a test Braille pattern.
※ Test Print ⡈⠢⠫⠾
The test Braille pattern is a concise yet comprehensive combination designed to verify the integrity of each printed dot.
In the event of a printing anomaly, this pattern enables users to pinpoint exactly where and how the print quality is lacking. This, in turn, allows the manufacturer to accurately diagnose and identify the specific part of the printing mechanism causing the issue based on the user's feedback.
